Dear Senior Management Representatives of the BRA,
RE: The land tax law of Barbados is mischief that must be stopped
I hope this letter finds you and your team well.
I write to you as an elder citizen of this country. More importantly, I write to you as an ambassador of my King, Yeshua Hamashiach, whom Christians know as Jesus Christ.
I am presently the president of the Home & Business Landowners (B’dos) Association. This letter is written on behalf of the members of our growing association, including myself. On behalf of the association, I am going to give you our position regarding our responsibility for paying this land tax. I will first outline why placing a land tax on landowners is criminal.
This outline is done on behalf of my children and your children as we seek to improve the living conditions of our lives.
OUTLINE OF WHY GOVERNOR RON DeSANTIS CALLS LAND TAX THE WORST KIND OF TAXATION.

Land/Property | P | This is not a tax; this is called mischief. Owners of land/property are penalized for what their parents spent their lives to achieve for their families. Owning a property meant you were in a better position in life. TAXING SOMETHING YOU OWN THAT IS NO LIABILITY ON ANYONE IS MISCHIEF/SIN/WICKEDNESS. THEN FOR THE GOVERNMENT TO TAKE IT AWAY. THIS IS CALLED STEALING. |
What was called land tax is known in the streets of magic as “sleight of hand.” My research shows “land tax” was put on the Barbados books in 1972. Over the years, this “required” bill became buried in our minds as the “right” thing to do. As time passed, costs went up to the point people could no longer maintain payment on an OWNED commodity. Now we are in the final phase, and it is called “LAND GRABBING.” Nothing new; most of the world falls for it.
THE HOME & BUSINESS LANDOWNERS (B’dos) ASSOCIATION’S POSITION.
This association’s membership and beliefs are in the God that gave us His Bible. These days, many do not read the Bible or care too much about it. As president of this association, we care about God and what will happen to us at the end of our days. The Book states we are to die, and after death, the judgment. THE GREAT BOOK WE READ STATES WE SHOULD NOT SIN. It does not matter what you, Governor DeSantis, the King of England, etc., think or say. What matters is what the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob thinks.
SUMMARY.
1. Taxing any owned property that cost the country nothing is wrong. It is sin/wickedness to the owner.
2. Asking the members of our association to pay into this system of sin is unsettling to us who are believers in God. We cannot be partakers of this stealing of properties belonging to our fellow citizens. Families worked long and hard for a LIFETIME to acquire the little property for their children. Now, you say to the owners, you can no longer afford what you already paid for. This is the sin called extortion.
3. On judgment day we want to go before our God with a clean conscience.
With respect, I kindly ask that your organization exempt our H&BLA members from this wicked and unholy practice. With what happened to Dave Thorne, we want the highest level of confidentiality to protect our members in this association when we share the account numbers of our members for reference.
Note: I am well aware that correcting this matter will not be easy, as this mischief is part of our country’s tax revenue. We are one Barbados, and we must come together for this common good. By default, people that acquire land are the most productive in our society, and we stand ready as a landowners association to help resolve this matter.
Last, for the members of our association to pay you, it would only allow your organization to continue to take away land from people who OWN it. In our hearts, we cannot do this evil to the families that sacrificed so much to gain just a little to get ahead.
This is wrong in the eyes of God.
